Who doesn't love a loaf cat? The calm, contented face, the disappearing paws, the sharp hips, and the draping, drooping fat/fur is just adorable. The best part is that no eyes, no legs, no wire, and lots of fluff make this project relatively easy. The small-ish head does provide a skill-building challenge, but the patterns will lead you to success. This project is thick, using just over 1 oz of core wool.

Beginning Felters

This is a good project for beginning felters and sculptors - but it isn’t without it’s challenges. The head is small. Don’t stress it. Your first one might be cuter rather than realistic. Fortunately, this makes a great cute model.

Experienced Felters

This project can be felted quickly and is power-needle friendly. 

Craft Sellers

You can make a bunch of these in core wool to be ready when commissions come in. Whether cute or ultra-realistic this cat will be popular with craft fair attendees.

What about coloring?

As with all SWiFT Project Sheets (except the penguin), you're on your own for coloring. This loaf cat can be colored to represent many common cat breeds, but it isn't good for breeds with upturned noses such as Persians or hairless breeds like a Sphynx.

The second is the Penguin Tutorial Project Sheet. This project is highly recommended for anyone new to needle felting. It is a complete step-by-step tutorial that includes a real-time YouTube video. You will learn the basics of SWiFT while creating a realistic penguin.
